Postby DT6886 » Sun Nov 11, 2012 7:03 pm

Question:

Will lowering cause more wear & tear to your absorbers?

Any views?

Lowering the suspension by changing only the springs? YES.
Lowering the suspension by changing the whole suspension as in coilovers? NO.

Reason..
The shock absorber is factory calibrated to the the stock springs, any aftermarket springs will have different spring rate, thus the absorbers are mostly 'over worked" whether its softer or harder springs. Hence shorter lifespan.
For coilovers, it's factory calibrated by the manufacturer....no fear here. The fully adjustable ones can adjust both height & comfort. Downside: it's more expensive.

My opinion, coilovers is the way to go for lowering the ride.
