Many may have unheard of the brand, but the firm is responsible for giving us one of the most exciting sedans in recent years - the Volvo S60 Polestar. The concept packs a wholesome 508bhp, and the ability to dispatch the century sprint in just 3.9 seconds. It made the world rethink Volvo.
Since 1996, Polestar has been the official motorsports and performance partner for Swedish carmaker Volvo. The firm is also the exclusive supplier of performance products for Volvo cars.
Coming from a humble background, the establishment has laid strong roots in motorsports. Polestar has collaborated with Volvo in numerous motorsports ventures, such as in World Touring Cars Championship (WTCC) and Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC).

Last year, the motorsports collaboration scaled the greatest height thus far, claiming a trio of titles, including Manufacturer, Team and Drivers championship. For 2013, the Volvo Polestar team will continue to field its best technologies and talents at the tracks, with a total of five race-prepped S60s.
With its sight set firmly on expansion, Polestar is also excited to launch its pilot road car project, based on the Volvo S60 Polestar concept. This is the first road car engineered by the team at Polestar, and will set to launch in Australia mid this year.
